| Trunk Light Fix Some of us have had the trunk light go out....and most of the Impala/Caprice owners will probably have this problem. The problem is the wire is broken going INTO the mercury switch!! You can take that assembly apart and fix it if you're handy.....if not, you can replace the light assembly. The problem is that the wires coming out of the switch flex right AT the switch. The cure is to use a plastic tie-tie and put it about 1-inch from the switch to tie the wires down firmly to the trunk hinge. Then when the trunk opens, the wires will flex in their entire loop rather than just at the switch. Ensure you have a good loop of wire AND that they are not getting trapped or crimped anywhere. See the photo for the placement of the wire tie. To replace your current light or add another trunk light purchase: Trunk Lamp Assembly - Part #10203566 - has the female end to receive the plug-in connector. Also comes with a new bulb. |
