Manifold vs Header Bolt Pattern

There has been much discussion about what has to be done once one of the end exhaust manifold bolts break. If you intend to keep the stock manifold then you have little choice but to somehow get the broken bolt out of the head and install a new bolt. If however you plan to install headers then you don't need to remove the broken bolt. The headers use a different bolt hole at the far ends. See the picture below.

This photo was taken by Troy at the NAISSO store. Even though the header is reversed from normal, the bolt pattern is still shown. You can see that the end bolts are not needed if you are going to install headers. If however one of the other bolts break, then you still have to find a way to extract that bolt.
